your day can get derailed by the unexpected. Normally I spend time working at home in the morning but today has been different……Sasha, our dog, needed to go to the Vet again…..about 2 1/2 weeks ago we went because she had diarrhea BAD! Not a fun thing…..they wanted a sample…..YUCK! but I obliged them and sure enough she had round worms. Well, they wanted me to bring them another sample (ugh!) after treatment and I just hadn’t been able to time that right, fresh poop sample and the Vet being open etc. isn’t always easy and quite frankly I needed to psych myself up for the job!. She has also since developed a small bump on her nose and I wanted that looked at but needed to get the poop sample too!

So, last night I did poop patrol in the garden…(this is not a fun job by the way!) and thought OK, if she does a poop in the morning I will know and we can go. I let her out first thing and nothing. Loaded her up to drop my daughter to pre-school and she permeated the air with an aroma that words cannot express…..my daughter was yelping…..”something is tinky mommy!” My thought was….hmmmmmm I think she may need to poop…..this is good. So, with my little one safely at school I headed home and sure enough……fresh poop! (I know…..very disgusting….the things we do for our four legged family members!) Fortunately the vet gave me a gizmo to obtain this sample and it was fairly painless…..

Sasha is so funny, loves to go in the car but get her to the door of the Vet and she just sits down…..ain’t going any further! Just like a kid, she doesn’t like going to the doctor. So I practically drag her into the doctor’s office and thanking God that being a weekday it is pretty quiet so we get right in. (On a Saturday, which is what we did last time, everyone and their dog or cat is there…..it’s crazy!)

The Vet comes in and we chat a bit, he checks her nose and isn’t quite sure what it is and recommends we watch it for another week or so….then if it isn’t getting smaller they go ahead and remove it. They also check the poop sample and we get the all clear!! Yay!

Doctor appointments or changes in the schedule of things really messes up my day…..I get the feeling that while I have been busy, busy…..I haven’t gotten the “normal” things done…..

So, that’s my day so far…..

Cheers!

I haven’t met a child yet who isn’t fascinated with animals! We currently have 2 cats and a dog……(kinda sounds like “Our House”! yes, I am dating myself) anyway, I say currently as we have been up to as many as 4 cats in the past. They just seem to find us when they are lost and unwanted and voila a new home……we are just softies! All of our animals were orphaned and found us one way or another.
Larry is our oldest cat and the first animal we had. He is about 7 1/2 years old I think!!! and he is the most laid back feline I have ever met. My oldest daughter named him after Larry the Cucumber from Veggietales! Our little one makes it a point everyday to carry him around, include him in some sort of pretend play she is doing at the moment, and just doesn’t leave him alone. He has been known to be her “baby” and he just takes all of it in stride. When she was 1-2 years old she would just lay on him and he would just lay there an let her. Our other cat will have none of it, she has gotten scratched a couple of times and has finally figured out that Maggie just isn’t the same kind of play-mate as Larry.

I love to listen to her talk to Larry and tell her how much she loves him and how she worries about him and she shares her thought with him, she is just like a little mama with him. I find myself telling her at times to “please give the kitty a rest……I don’t think he wants to play anymore” and she just gets upset with me……but really the poor cat! When he finally has had enough and he does escape he finds a quiet out of the way place to sleep and is safe until she finds him again!!

Cheers!

It’s January….ok, I know you know that…and it’s winter for most of us. I don’t know about you but I hate being cold and I am not big on winter sports etc. So, that being said I have been hoping and praying for all the snow on the ground (and we have had a lot) to melt and be done already! Well, I got my wish, a couple of days ago the temperature went up and the melting began. Did I mention we have a dog….well, we do. We got her right before Thanksgiving, she is wonderful and I now cannot use the excuse of cold weather and snow not to go for walks as she is big and we live in town…..so walk I must.

Anyway, I digress, back to melting snow…..and the dog…..well, they poop! right! and with the snow I couldn’t really be on poop patrol……and it has been weeks (it snowed every time I thought…..I need to pick up the poop!)…..and now the snow is gone….. revealing….lots and lots of poop!

I tell you there are some jobs I would gladly pay other people to do. My hubby won’t do it, to get him to do it I would have major paybacks owed to him…and that is something for another post!! : ) So today….there I am out in the garden…..patrolling, you know I filled up three grocery bags! YUCK!!!!

Well, I am really glad to be done with that…….and it has kind of been the kind of day I have had today so I guess it all fits in some odd way.

So, my question of the day? What are the yucky jobs you’d pay to have someone do for you??

I look forward to hearing from you!
Cheers!
Grace
