04 Jan 2009 Hello, it’s me Grace……..

Hi Everyone…….My name is Grace and well, here I am, this is my first post and I am really looking forward to seeing where this blog is in a few months……or dare I say years! I am a stay at home mom that works a bit from home doing bits and pieces to help with our family income along with that I watch a couple kiddos in addition to my little one 3 days a week.  This can and does make life challenging! Today we are on our own and my youngest who is 3 and I are hanging out, I am currently trying to teach her the art of cleaning up after herself! Needless to say it is a 1 step forward two steps back kind of process. Today she is sitting in front of the TVT (translate that as the TV) surrounded by 20-30 of her stuffed toys of various sizes…….ugh! I have gently mentioned that as she has brought all these toys out to the family room that later when she is done she will have to take them all back to the playroom! Assuring me that she will when she is done…..but I know from experience this won’t happen without tears later……and I of course will help her AGAIN pick up her toys explaining all the while that if she doesn’t bring them all out here there wouldn’t be such a mess to clean up! I know teaching little ones is all about repetition but can anyone tell me how to keep smiling and happy while repeating myself over and over everyday!! sigh…

If any of you out there reading this have some great suggestions on this very important matter please let me know………

Cheers!

Grace

    Hi Grace,
A stay at home mom is a challenging task at times, but very rewarding considering the task at hand of rising a little human being and at the end a wonderful human being. I so remember those days with our daughter. I realized that all those stuffed animals she toted was a friend to her. I taught her that before her nap time that even her stuffed animals had to take a nap. She took on the role of care taker for these aka friends and realized that mommy couldn’t do it as well as she did because she had the special touch of love.

As for the other toys your like most moms and on your own. We used to sing and dance as we would clean up. I really can’t say that it work. She’s almost 16 now and still needs motivation to clean her room. LOL

Good Luck and God Bless You,
    Tammy

Ha, it’s been many years since my boys were toddlers, but reading this reminded me of the game we used to play in order to get them to pick up Legos that were scattered all over the floor…Vacuum Cleaner. Yep, we pretended to be vacuum cleaners picking up all the little pieces (you gotta make sure you do the sound effects) and it worked like a charm!

    Good job on the blog!
