19 Feb 2009 My Little One and Larry the Cat…

I haven’t met a child yet who isn’t fascinated with animals! We currently have 2 cats and a dog……(kinda sounds like “Our House”! yes, I am dating myself) anyway, I say currently as we have been up to as many as 4 cats in the past. They just seem to find us when they are lost and unwanted and voila a new home……we are just softies!  All of our animals were orphaned and found us one way or another.

Emma and Larry
Larry is our oldest cat and the first animal we had. He is about 7 1/2 years old I think!!! and he is the most laid back feline I have ever met. My oldest daughter named him after Larry the Cucumber from Veggietales! Our little one makes it a point everyday to carry him around, include him in some sort of pretend play she is doing at the moment, and just doesn’t leave him alone. He has been known to be her “baby” and he just takes all of it in stride. When she was 1-2 years old she would just lay on him and he would just lay there an let her. Our other cat will have none of it, she has gotten scratched a couple of times and has finally figured out that Maggie just isn’t the same kind of play-mate as Larry.
Emma and Larry 2
I love to listen to her talk to Larry and tell her how much she loves him and how she worries about him and she shares her thought with him, she is just like a little mama with him.  I find myself telling her at times to “please give the kitty a rest……I don’t think he wants to play anymore” and she just gets upset with me……but really the poor cat!  When he finally has had enough and he does escape he finds a quiet out of the way place to sleep and is safe until she finds him again!!

Cheers!

Grace
