Well, finally my Dad is going home!  I am not sure if he is completely ready physically as he will have the challenge of the stairs in his house but I know he wants to be at home.  He has enjoyed the rehab facility in as much as the food has been great and it has been nice to have so many people around him.  His recovery has been going very well and he made marked improvement from last week to this.

They started working on doing stairs last week and the main thing for him will be keeping in mind all the precautions he has in place until the doctor releases him.  He was able to move up his appointment with the doctor and will be seeing him on May 6th which will be about 5 weeks 1 day out of surgery.  He is hopeful he will be released from the precautions and allowed to drive at that point but we will have to wait and see.

I saw his friend who had surgery about 12 weeks ago tomorrow and he is doing just fabulous!  Moving great, feels great, is golfing and the whole 9 yards so I am hopeful my Dad will get to that point as well if he keeps doing what he is supposed to. ( I know I keep repeating that! ….hmmmmm!)

He will have some home therapy about 3 times a week and he was trying to get out of that but my sister is setting that up to start ASAP which will be good.  They come and check out the house and base the therapy on how best to help him get around the house etc.

I am going to head over again this weekend mostly to see my sister, to help her do some cleaning and so she can see our youngest daughter.  My older kids have other stuff going on which is probably best as too many people just get my Dad agitated and we don’t want that!  I am hoping this will be my last trip for a while.  My husband and I were talking and I have been over there more times this last month than we normally go in a year!  So, I figure I will be good now until about 2011!!

My Dad’s 81st birthday is on May 1st so we are going to have a little birthday celebration this weekend while my sister is in town which will be fun.
