So I have been invited to write a guest post. The husband! oh the freedom. So here it is a blank canvas stretched out before me ready to be filled with words of wisdom, insight, wit and humor, or not.
It’s Saturday morning, our daughter is watching kids shows on TV and Grace is having a bath prior to heading off to a church meeting, Zak is asleep and here I am on a cold morning typing a blog, a the guest author for the day, a husband in a woman’s world, what should I talk about?
First off I have to say I read the blog all the time I love how Grace has developed it and also enjoyed the interaction with site visitors and other bloggers and seen this community of moms grow. It’s been a real departure for Grace, who at first wasn’t sure she had much to say, but everyone’s life is full of experiences that may seem insignificant to them but resonate with other people. We’ve read about teenage sons, busy days and daughter’s getting tattoos . Intriguingly we have also read about how wives can stay sexy while staying at home. I’m look forward to seeing how that develops!
Most of all I think I have enjoyed getting to know Grace a little better, while we husbands are out at work there’s a whole world that goes on that we’re not part of. I got a glimpse last week when I was off work sick for a couple of days. It’s a world of kids and trips, pre school and the store, snatched quiet moments and sitting down to watch a soap in the afternoon. It’s a whirlwind that husbands are unaware of when they step back in after their day and never saw. I must admit I sometimes long for the old days after a hard days work when I come home and the paper’s ready and the slippers are warm by the fire but I have come to realize that if that were the case Grace should have her slippers by the fire also.
So here we are at the weekend I am looking after the kids today and Grace has a church meeting and a baby shower. My day will be filled with trips to the garden to work on my PVC greenhouse with my 3 year old, trying to motivate said son into getting up from in front of the TV or PC and taking the dog out. Oh and feeding and cleaning the cats, heading to the store, fixing lunch etc etc.
I’m tired already, where’s Grace!
THE HUSBAND
